Current SEUL Projects
The Simple End-User Linux (SEUL) Project is a large organization trying to guide many other groups in the direction of making Linux better for the end-user. Though it has several smaller projects ongoing within the group itself (eg seul-edu and seul-pub), most of the work is done by groups that fall under the umbrella of SEUL. The end goal of SEUL is to have a comprehensive suite of high-quality applications available under the GPL for the Linux platform, and a broader base of educated users around the world who understand why free software is better.

Additional Hosting

One of the goals of the SEUL project is to encourage the development of user friendly software for Linux, and more generally for high-quality free Linux software of all kinds.

The two primary SEUL machines are only lightly loaded these days, and serveral people have offered to help host things if more help is needed.

Specifically, Seul is looking for projects that:

These include:

They don't have to be licensed freely, but they need to be non-commercial (that is, not dealing with money at all). Often, offering a good system for hosting can be a good enough bribe to start an author thinking about making his license more free. (For instance, Seul succeeded at this with the WXftp project.) Of course, projects with free licenses are preferred over those without.

We can host any part of the proposed project. We can host:

If you find a suitable project, feel free to let arma@seul.org know about them (and cc seul@seul.org if you like), or contact them yourself (and cc arma and/or seul) if you're familiar with how they work. If there's any question about commercial/etc issues, please contact arma@seul.org first though.
